Generator Standby Switch

Making your backup generator more convenient.

Consolidated Electric Cooperative is now offering a generator standby switch* that mounts behind your electric meter. This switch allows you to safely connect a portable generator without having to run extension cords throughout your home to appliances.

Once the generator is plugged in, the generator standby switch disconnects your home from the electric grid and connects it to the generator. Then you can control which appliances you want to use by flipping the breakers in your existing electric panel. No special wiring is needed for 100- or 200-amp residential electrical service.

At just $9.99 per month, this generator standby switch is an economical choice to eliminate the inconvenience of a power outage (monthly fee includes installation). You also have the option of selecting a generator standby switch that includes surge protection to project the major appliances in your home for just $12.99 per month (monthly fee includes installation).

The generator standby switch is also available for purchase at just $575 without surge protection or $650 with surge protection (purchase price does not include installation). Cords are available at an additional price, depending upon length desired.
